The cabin is nestled in Slovak Paradise National Park, in a quiet part of Čingov tourist center, with a direct view of Owl Rock, from which the name "Owl Rock Cabin" is derived.
In Slovak Paradise, there is a network of up to 300 km of hiking trails of varying difficulty, leading through ravines, streams, and stunning waterfalls (or ice falls in winter) with karst formations, the tallest reaches up to 75 meters! Several of these trails pass near the cabin. Most of the hiking paths are open year-round. Close to the cabin, the Hornad River flows, and since 2016, it has been allowed to raft the section of the longest river canyon in Slovakia – the Hornad Gorge.
In winter, during very strong frosts, it’s possible to skate on the Hornad River – a few years ago, one of the best (if not the best) ice rinks for skating was right in front of our cabin! Another recent tourist development in the region is the reopening of the iconic Kyseľ ravine to the public, after 40 years since the devastating fire. The passage through this ravine is allowed only with a ferrata safety set which can be rented at Čingov main parking lot.

If you’re planning to go hiking, be sure to bring waterproof hiking boots, a raincoat, and insect repellent. You can also purchase your Slovak Paradise National Park entrance ticket online at: https://www.qrvisit.me/SlovenskyRajCingov. The entrance ticket includes accident insurance as well as Mountain Rescue Service intervention insurance valid for the day of your visit. Our cabin is located in Slovak Paradise National Park, within an area subject to the 3rd level of nature protection under Section 14 of Act No. 543/2002 Coll. on Nature and Landscape Protection. It is prohibited to leave marked hiking trails or to camp or bivouac outside designated areas. Fires may only be lit in designated fireplaces or other officially designated places. The use of light or noise effects is strictly prohibited, including fireworks, lasers, and amplified music played outdoors. With the exception of the Kyseľ Gorge, all hiking trails, gorges, and cycling routes are open year-round. Please note that all gorges may only be hiked upstream, following the direction opposite to the flow of the stream.
